Pastor's Message (November 2015)

Created: Monday, November 2, 2015

Many of the leaves by now have fallen and we just gained another hour by turning back the clock. I look at the calendar and wonder where did the time go? Personally, this is the month I enjoy to indulge in fleecy blankets, warm sweaters, and my cozy soft slippers. Along that note, why not have a nice cup of hot chocolate topped with 100% heavy whipping cream – indeed, all so dangerously delicious!

Sitting by an open fire sets the tone even further - closing my eyes and listening to the sparks of split wood, all of which bring back memories from long ago. These are memories worth smiling at, which made my childhood ever so special. How often have I not entertained the idea of bringing those priceless times back?  It is comforting to know that the God who gave us the gift of beautiful memories, while stored in our hearts, can help us to re-live them.

Living out our faith, rest assured Christ can take us places we’ve been before while helping us to experience life through new lenses. Whatever memories we may have, positive as well as challenging, Christ enables us to experience life as it is, however, with new perspectives. Furthermore, Christ can bring us to where we need to be, no matter how foreign and unfamiliar. Having said this, everything is possible in God’s world, a world that sometimes presents itself with lots of surprises, some more difficult than others. On the contrary, when God showers us with multiple blessings, our joy knows no end! With every leap of faith, expect good things to come about!

As a community with strong ecumenical connections, may we take the opportunity to observe and celebrate Thanksgiving with our prayers, and thoughts of those less fortunate. With our continued joint efforts, may we be able to recognize and respond to the various needs in our community. May we also affirm the Lord’s presence in every part of our ministries while we allow time and space for spiritual growth to occur.

May the special moments of November mark your life in new memorable and intriguing ways.

In Christ,
Pastor Anette
