2016 Youth Group Mission Trip Blog
Join us here as we provide updates from Pastor Anette and our youth group as they travel to Butler, Illinois for their mission trip! They will be visiting Love Packages, a ministry that is aimed at sharing Christian literature and Bibles with people around the world. People throughout the U.S. donate literature to this organization, which sends them to ministries in many poor countries to distribute freely to people in search of the Word of God.

Left Penn Station in good cheer. Here we go at 3:52 PM!
Mon., Jun. 27
Traveling through the night on Amtrak was smooth. Only once in a while was the ride a little bit rough as the train arrived at a curve up a mountain in upstate New York. We woke up to welcome a new day in Toledo, Ohio before arriving in Chicago, Illinois, where our plan is to visit and to explore sites of interest. After that, we'll make our connection to Carlinville, Illinois. Once in Carlinville, we will be greeted and welcomed by a friendly team of members and friends of the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield, Illinois. They will take us to the town of Litchfield, where we'll have our accommodations for the coming week.

Our first day at Love Packages was eventful and amazing. We heard about the millions of people whose lives have been changed because of this ministry, which started 41 years ago!

Fellowship and dinner with local youth - an evening with worship, singing, Bible study, and sharing.
Thu., Jun. 30
We spent Tursday evening with youth from Litchfield, Gillespie, Auburn, and Werdon. It was a special event with worship, singing, meeting with local officials including a state trooper, a professional dirt bike race driver named Bubba, and others who shared stories from their personal past and journey to success! The evening ended with fellowship around a fabulous dinner in good cheer, with evening devotions later.
Fri., Jul. 1
We left our hotel at 8:15 AM and arrived at Carlinville station at 8:40 AM. With five vehicles carrying our group of 15 including luggage, we couldn't have been more blessed! The train for Chicago arrived at 9:49 AM. We left at 9:57 AM. We explored Chicago during our layover before making our last connection to head back home.
