It’s spring time!

With Easter behind us, the echo of the liturgical season of joy and celebration is loud and clear throughout our worship. It is God’s way of calling us close to one another and to rediscover the Spirit’s presence within.

Through and through, God prepares us for the special moments of our lives. Such times often prepare and allow us to strengthen our connection with God and another. Connected, our unity is being blessed by the One and the same whose divine presence is a sure thing.

While on a “fishing expedition” in the Florida Keys last month, my family and I had the pleasure to reconnect with our friends at the Peace Covenant Presbyterian Church. The church has, as part of its unique history, a long tradition to celebrate the occasion of a child’s being presented for the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Such was the case with our son Clint. When he was baptized, a fish with his name joined the mural wall of fish inside the sanctuary. Thus, our “fishing expedition” is revealed!

Besides the appreciation of the arts, we also had rare opportunities to have close encounters with wildlife, feeding catfish, blue gill, turtles, and squirrels. To our sweet surprise, the squirrels were so comfortable around people that they ate peanuts right out of our hands! After that experience, it remains to see whether we’ll have some furry new friends among our neighbors in the community, though no matter how adorable, we are all in agreement to keep them at a friendly distance.

It was most refreshing to revisit the state of our first U.S. neighborhood. Spending quality time with family, hence giving ourselves the gift of building new memories - that’s vacation at its best!

As the season of spring unfolds, enjoy and marvel at God’s beautiful creation!

In Christ,
